Active, 30 days

A domain counts as active when we have seen it active at least once in the last 30 days.

Observed

Domains that have appeared in our records at least once, including ones that are no longer active.

New today

Domains we saw for the first time during the current UTC day. The count starts again at 00:00 UTC.

Since the previous update

Domains added between the two most recent updates. Updates run about every 30 minutes, and the exact window is shown next to the number.

Which TLDs are counted

The 1,438 TLDs listed in the IANA root zone. The list is refreshed weekly, and names outside it are not counted.

How fresh each part is

gTLD records are updated several times an hour. ccTLD records refresh on a rolling cycle of about 30 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does DomainKits' data come from?

Domain data, including the numbers on this page, comes from our own database, which we build and update from public sources. It is not taken from another provider's API. Other features use data from partners: market data, such as listings, prices and availability, comes from GName, Atom, GoDaddy, Dynadot, Cloudflare and Vercel, and SEO and analysis data comes from DataForSEO, Google and MaxMind.

Why is the observed total so much larger than the active total?

Observed includes domains that have since expired, been deleted, or not been seen active in the last 30 days. Active only counts domains seen active within that window.

Why do some TLDs show no active domains?

A few TLDs in the root zone are not open for registration, such as reserved country codes and infrastructure TLDs, or had no domains seen active in the last 30 days.

Why do ccTLD numbers change more slowly?

Many country-code registries do not publish their full domain lists, so ccTLD records refresh on a rolling cycle of about 30 days, while gTLD records update several times an hour.

What does "Recounting" mean?

The count for the current day is occasionally recalculated, which can lower it between two updates. Instead of showing a negative number, we show Recounting until the next update.

Does DomainKits track who owns these domains?

No. These are counts of domains. DomainKits tracks what happens to domains, not who owns them. To ask for a domain to be excluded from search results, see Requesting Removal of a Domain.
