Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as listed for sale on this dashboard?
A domain is counted when it is observed listed on one of the aftermarket marketplaces DomainKits tracks, such as GoDaddy, Sedo, HugeDomains, BuyDomains and Atom. Each domain is counted once per day.
How often is the data updated, and how far back does it go?
The dashboard is refreshed once a day. Trend lines cover the most recent 30 days, and the underlying history has been collected since May 2026.
Why is the total lower than numbers marketplaces advertise?
The total is a conservative baseline: it only includes domains we directly observe listed on tracked marketplaces. Inventory on marketplaces outside our coverage, or listed privately, is not included. The data is compiled from public sources and covers gTLDs only, not ccTLDs, so counts can differ from marketplace-reported figures and may lag slightly.
What are CVCV and 4-letter no-vowel domains?
They are short domain patterns popular with investors. CVCV means consonant-vowel-consonant-vowel, a shape that reads as brandable. 4-letter no-vowel means four letters with none of a, e, i, o, u or v, a pattern widely traded for its scarcity.
How are keyword counts calculated?
A domain counts toward a keyword when its name contains that word as a distinct term. For example, a listing like openai.com counts toward both open and ai. The 7-day and 30-day columns show the net change in how many listed domains contain the term.
