See which domain keywords are being registered the most
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this data show?
Prefix Trends: Domain prefixes ranked by recent registration volume.
Emerging Keywords: Keywords with notable recent growth, ranked by how much absolute weekly registration activity has gained.
Hot Keywords: Most frequently registered keywords over the recent window, ranked by total registration volume.
How are keywords extracted?
Keywords are extracted using a hybrid approach combining dksplit (our open-source segmentation tool) and AI models. Unlike simple "contains" matching, we perform intelligent word segmentation to identify actual meaningful words within domain names. For example, "abtdomain.com" is segmented into "abt" and "domain", not matched for containing "bt" or "main".
Does this data show every registration?
No. The raw stream is first cleaned, segmented, and run through an algorithm that filters out junk keywords (you can see the leftovers in the Others bucket). What you see here is a verified, representative sample of registration activity. It points you to the broader direction of the market, not every single registration.
Are these trends a recommendation to register domains?
No. The trends displayed here are purely for observing domain and keyword registration statistics, and do not constitute investment advice or guarantee data accuracy. To evaluate the real-world usage of a keyword, we recommend clicking on it to visit New Domains Search, where you can filter by "Starts with" or "Ends with" to better understand how the keyword is actually being used in domain registrations.
What do the colors mean?
Hot / Emerging, first bar (TLD share): green = .com, gray = other TLDs.
Hot / Emerging, second bar (NS distribution): orange = NS on Sedo / Afternic / Atom / 4cn (For Sale), blue = NS on Cloudflare / AWS / Vercel / Netlify (Active DNS), gray = others.
Prefix bar: three segments showing when registrations happened. Red = last 48 hours, yellow = 2 to 7 days ago, gray = 8 to 30 days ago.
What do the columns mean?
Hot / Emerging: count = 28 day registrations. The two bars show TLD share and NS distribution as percentages. Hover any bar to see the exact numbers.
Prefix: count = total 30 day registrations. The bar splits the 30 days into three time windows (last 48h, 2 to 7 days ago, 8 to 30 days ago) as percentages. Hover the bar to see exact numbers.
How should I read these numbers?
Domain registration is an open market. A keyword's signal comes from who shows up. People building (Active DNS), people trading (For Sale), and people holding (Others). A keyword becomes meaningful when multiple market participants act on it independently. When one party dominates, it reflects one party, not the market.
The proportions you see in the top 5 of the Hot tab are a healthy baseline. Use them as a reference when reading other keywords.
How often is the data updated, and what other trend data is available?
The data is updated daily. The Trends Kit also includes TLD registration trends and keyword registration trends. Track what extensions and keywords are gaining momentum in the domain market.
