DomainKits API: Search Newly Registered Domains and 5 More Lifecycle Stages via REST
One API call. Keyword "wallet," past 10 days: 2,392 newly registered domains. Switch the endpoint from /search/nrds to /search/active, same keyword: 16,856 currently registered domains containing "wallet" across all monitored TLDs. Switch again to /search/expired: shoewallet.com, registered since 2003, 23 years old, now in the expiration pipeline. Switch to /search/market: 29,821 domains containing "wallet" listed for sale across 12 marketplace platforms. Four endpoints, one keyword, four views of the same namespace.
The DomainKits REST API exposes six search endpoints, each covering a different stage of the domain lifecycle. Together they span 240M+ active gTLD domains, 60 days of new registrations across 1,200+ extensions, and rolling inventories of expired, deleted, aged, and marketplace-listed domains. Every endpoint accepts the same core filters (keyword, TLD, length, character type) and returns structured JSON with pagination, or exports up to 50,000 results as CSV or plain-text files.

Newly registered domains: /search/nrds
The NRD endpoint is the entry point for newly registered domain intelligence. It indexes every gTLD registration as it appears in zone files and WHOIS streams, covering the past 60 days across 1,200+ extensions.
A query for "wallet" in the past 10 days returns 2,392 domains. The results include domains like bisqwallet.live (registered on 3 TLDs simultaneously), wallettrackerplus.com, and a cluster of programmatically generated .xyz registrations. Each result carries the registration date, expiry date, and a cross-TLD count showing how many extensions the same prefix is registered on.

}The endpoint supports filters that narrow results precisely: position (start, end, contain) controls where the keyword appears in the domain name. length filters by character count (e.g., <5, 5-10). period filters by registration term (1 year vs. multi-year), separating speculative one-year registrations from committed multi-year ones. no_number and no_hyphen exclude low-quality patterns. has_sale surfaces only domains already listed on marketplaces. reg_date accepts exact dates, month ranges, and open-ended ranges for precise time windows.
The cross-TLD count (tld_count) in the response is a signal unique to DomainKits. A domain registered on 3 TLDs simultaneously suggests coordinated investment or brand protection. A domain on a single TLD is typically speculative or project-specific. This field is available across all six search endpoints.
Expired domains: /search/expired
The expired endpoint tracks domains across three stages of the expiration pipeline: expired (registrar may be auctioning), redemption (owner can still reclaim for a fee), and pending_delete (drops in 1-5 days). The status parameter lets you target a specific stage.
Searching "wallet" on .com with 20+ years of history returns shoewallet.com (registered 2003, 23 years, in the expired stage) and fossilwallet.com (registered 2005, 21 years, in redemption). These are domains with two decades of registration history now entering the availability pipeline. The age_range filter is what makes this practical: without it, the expired inventory for any popular keyword is thousands of results across all age tiers.

Aged domains: /search/aged
The aged endpoint covers currently registered domains with 5+ years of continuous registration history. These are live domains, not available for registration, but the data is valuable for competitive analysis, acquisition prospecting, and market research.
"Wallet" on .com with 20+ years of history: 524 domains. wallet.com leads with 31 years of registration history since 1995, registered across 502 TLD extensions. wallets.com follows at 30 years (168 TLDs). digitalwallet.com, registered since 1998, appears on 87 TLDs. leatherwallet.com, also from 1997, on 17 TLDs. The cross-TLD count here tells a story about commercial value: 502 TLDs for "wallet" reflects the weight of the keyword across the domain namespace.

Active domains: /search/active
The active endpoint opens the full registered domain inventory: 240M+ gTLD domains, searchable by keyword. "Wallet" across all TLDs returns 16,856 results. This endpoint answers questions about namespace saturation: how crowded is a keyword, which TLDs have available inventory, and where the competition is concentrated.

Without a keyword, the active endpoint enters TLD browse mode: provide only tld=com and it returns the entire .com registered inventory, shortest names first. This mode is useful for programmatic scans of available short-name inventory on a specific extension.
Deleted domains: /search/deleted
The deleted endpoint lists domains that have completed the full deletion cycle and are available for standard registration. Searching "wallet" with 10-20 years of prior registration history returns 136 results, including creditcardholderwallets.com (20 years) and amazonmobilewallet.com (18 years). These domains carried traffic and links before they were dropped.

Marketplace domains: /search/market
The market endpoint aggregates for-sale listings across 12 platforms: GoDaddy, Sedo, Atom, Dan, DN.com, BuyDomains, Hugedomains, 4.cn, Venture, SawSells, DDD, and PerfectDomain. "Wallet" returns 29,821 listed domains. wallet.auction is listed at $200 on Atom. wallet.group, wallet.holdings, wallet.tech, and wallet.zone are listed across GoDaddy and Atom.

The new parameter surfaces domains that first appeared on a marketplace in the last 1-3 days, useful for catching fresh listings before the market prices them in.
Exporting results: CSV and TXT
Every search endpoint supports bulk export. Add export=csv or export=txt to any query, and the API returns up to 50,000 results in a single response instead of paginated JSON. All filters (keyword, TLD, length, age, etc.) apply to exports the same way they apply to paginated queries.

Expired domains export domain, registered_date, tld_count, and status (expired, redemption, or pending delete). TXT exports return domain names only, one per line, for direct use in scripts and pipelines.
Export requests use a separate quota from regular searches, so bulk exports do not consume your daily search allowance.
Authentication and getting started
The API uses key-based authentication. API keys are the same keys used for the DomainKits n8n node and the MCP server. Include the key in an Authorization: Bearer dk_xxx header or an X-API-Key: dk_xxx header.

-H "X-API-Key: dk_your_key"API access requires a Premium or higher plan. Generate your API key at domainkits.com/dev. The v1 API contract is stable: existing fields are not removed or renamed, and any breaking change ships under a new version path with at least 90 days notice.
Beyond search: what else the API covers
The six search endpoints are the core of the API, but the full reference includes additional capabilities:
- WHOIS and DNS: Single-domain lookups and batch endpoints (up to 30 domains for WHOIS, 20 for DNS) for enriching search results with registrar, nameserver, and DNS record data.
- Typosquat scanning: Generate and check permutation variants for brand protection and phishing detection, with mutation type classification and cached WHOIS snapshots.
- Certificate Transparency: Search CT logs by keyword, discover subdomains for a domain, and look up certificate records by domain or fingerprint.
- Domain monitoring: Track status changes (transfers, drops, renewals, nameserver updates) for domains matching a keyword or TLD.
- TLD and keyword trends: Daily registration volume trends by TLD, hot keywords, emerging keywords, and trending domain prefixes.
- NRD downloads: Daily zone file downloads in domains-only, basic-info, or full-WHOIS formats.
- Utility tools: Reverse nameserver lookup, IP geolocation, registrar search, domain safety check, and EPP status code reference.
