Newly Registered Domains After Jev: What Followed the Launch News
TypeSafe introduced Jev on 15 September 2026, alongside $40 million in seed funding led by DCVC. The San Francisco lab calls it a System One Model: software supplies its state and a set of questions, and Jev returns typed decisions with scores and confidence estimates. It is designed for decisions inside software, such as classification and routing. TypeSafe reports response times of 70 to 500 milliseconds.
The name soon appeared in newly registered domains. Let's look at when those names were registered, what the domains were being used for, and, as background, how search interest in the name moved. Some were already offered for sale; at least one had a working site.
Finding the launch in domain data
Between 21 July and 14 September, our .com search averaged 2.7 new registrations a day with jev at the start and 0.5 with it at the end. The search picked up names such as sirajev and zoran-vasiljev, or words such as the Croatian zahtjev. jevonslabs and jevonsai appear to refer to the economist Jevons.
When the new registrations arrived
The founder's announcement post went out on 15 September. The search found 5 new .com names beginning or ending with jev that day, 169 on 16 September and 252 on the 17th: 421 in two full days, against 179 over the eight weeks to 14 September.
Of the five names registered on the announcement date, three looked unrelated to the model. On the 17th, names beginning with jev ran at about 42 times their pre-launch daily average, and names ending with it at about 278 times.
Resale or use?
Nameservers give a first indication of what happens after registration. Afternic and Atom nameservers usually mean a sale or parking page; Cloudflare, Vercel and AWS mean the domain has been connected to those providers, which does not by itself mean a site is live. When checked on 18 September, 227 of the 421 names (54 percent) were still on their registrar's default nameservers, 168 (40 percent) used Afternic or Atom, and 26 (6 percent) Cloudflare, Vercel or AWS. This is a rough reading, not a count of sites: a project can run on registrar nameservers and stay invisible here, so the third group is use we can detect, not all use. The two days differ: of the 169 names from the 16th, 154 stayed on registrar defaults and 11 were on Afternic or Atom; of the 252 from the 17th, 157 were on Afternic or Atom and 73 on registrar defaults.
Two examples worth a look:
- deepjev.com: registered on the 16th, on Atom nameservers, listed at $50,000 by the 18th. Ten other .com names from the 16th also carried for-sale listings by then; jevpay.com asked $15,000 and jevchat.com $8,000.
- openjev.com: registered on the 16th, on Cloudflare nameservers, and by the 18th serving an open-source demo that imitates the Jev interface with open models such as Qwen and MiniCPM. Its README says it does not reproduce the Jev model or its training, and makes a point of there being no waitlist.
Search interest, for context
Worldwide searches for jev on Google Trends show the same shape: flat before the announcement, rising from the hour of the post, and highest on the morning of 18 September.
New registrations were still appearing on 18 September
The newly registered domain search continued to show names dated 18 September, including jevaitools.com, registered at 08:15:27 UTC, and jev-agent.com, registered at 08:33:53 UTC. Both used Cloudflare nameservers when checked. The 08:35 UTC snapshot already contained 29 matching .com registrations that day.
Keyword jev with Position set to End, 18 September: 268 names ending in jev across every covered extension in the search window. The counts in this article are .com only, for the days named.
As of this snapshot, the registration wave was still active. We will return to Jev in our weekly domain data reports, following new registrations, nameserver changes, sale listings and the sites that emerge.
Data and method
The daily registration counts were recorded from DomainKits at 08:35 UTC on 18 September 2026. Every count in this article uses one definition: .com names beginning or ending with jev, each counted once. The baseline is 21 July to 14 September. We use .com for the historical comparison because some country-code extensions have only a few days of coverage.
Registration dates use UTC boundaries. The 18 September count is a partial day, and earlier counts may be revised as records arrive. Exact registration times come from the live feed and WHOIS/RDAP records. The nameservers shown for individual domains and the deepjev.com asking price were checked separately on 18 September.
The Google Trends export (worldwide, web search, 11 September 09:00 to 18 September 09:00 UTC) was retrieved at 11:01 UTC on 18 September. Its Unix timestamps were converted to UTC for the chart, which ends at 08:00 UTC and excludes the unfinished 09:00 hour. Google Trends is a relative index of searches, not a count, and is not used here to explain the registration series.
